A youth football pitch: a volunteer-led effort in Verona
Volunteers in Verona are raising $2,000 for a youth football pitch at Union Park.

For five years the neighborhood has asked for a youth football pitch. This year a group of 16 volunteers, including the parish youth group, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for Union Park, but no funding.
We have received donated tools, and the remaining cost is $2,000.
It will serve about 189 people, including elderly neighbors living alone. We'll hold a build day in May and everyone is invited.
We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos.
Funds are spent only on materials, permits and safety equipment; all labor is volunteered.
Where the $2,000 goes:
• Materials: $1,400
• Permits and inspections: $150
• Safety equipment and signage: $90
• Tools hire and delivery: $360

More neighborhoods should do this. This is the second need I've supported on here and the first that made me cry. Take care.
