A youth football pitch: a volunteer-led effort in Campinas
A community-led a youth football pitch at the Acacia health centre yard that will serve 163 neighbors.

For three years the neighborhood has asked for a youth football pitch. This year a group of 12 volunteers, including a retired civil engineer, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for the Acacia health centre yard, but no funding.
We have received donated soil and plants, and the remaining cost is $1,300.
It will serve about 163 people, including school children and their families. We'll hold a build day in November and everyone is invited.
We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos.
All purchases will be made by two volunteers and logged publicly. Surplus funds will go to maintenance.
Where the $1,300 goes:
• Materials: $970
• Permits and inspections: $110
• Safety equipment and signage: $140
• Tools hire and delivery: $80
Even a small gift gets used right away and I'll thank you myself.

Wanted to say thank you properly. 34% funded and the plan for materials is now scheduled.
Update from Campinas: I met with the suppliers and confirmed the amounts. We're at 15% of the goal. Thank you for believing in us.

Thinking of you, Renata. More neighborhoods should do this. Blessings.
Hang in there, Renata. Reading this made my day a bit heavier but I'm glad I did. Thinking of Campinas
projects like this are what make a place worth living in. Read this on the bus and kept thinking about it all day. Take care.
