A solar-powered water pump for the old Pioneer bus depot: help our neighbors in Newcastle upon Tyne
Volunteers in Newcastle upon Tyne are raising $3,100 for a solar-powered water pump at the old Pioneer bus depot.

For eight years the neighborhood has asked for a solar-powered water pump. This year a group of 19 volunteers, including a group of teenagers, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for the old Pioneer bus depot, but no funding.
We have received donated volunteer hours worth about $1,150, and the remaining cost is $3,100.
It will serve about 537 people, including elderly neighbors living alone. We'll hold a build day in November and everyone is invited.
We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos.
All purchases will be made by two volunteers and logged publicly. Surplus funds will go to maintenance.

• Tools hire and delivery: $250
• Materials: $2,560
