A solar-powered water pump: a volunteer-led effort in Ekurhuleni
A community-led a solar-powered water pump at Acacia Primary School that will serve 248 neighbors.

For twelve years the neighborhood has asked for a solar-powered water pump. This year a group of 22 volunteers, including the parish youth group, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for Acacia Primary School, but no funding.
We have received donated timber, and the remaining cost is $650.
It will serve about 248 people, including school children and their families. We'll hold a build day in October and everyone is invited.
We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos.
Funds are spent only on materials, permits and safety equipment; all labor is volunteered.
Where the $650 goes:
• Materials: $420
• Permits and inspections: $60
• Safety equipment and signage: $120
• Tools hire and delivery: $50
Thank you so much.
