A solar-powered water pump: a volunteer-led effort in Coyoacán
Volunteers in Coyoacán are raising $1,000 for a solar-powered water pump at the Maple vacant lot.

For five years the neighborhood has asked for a solar-powered water pump. This year a group of 11 volunteers, including local mothers, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for the Maple vacant lot, but no funding.
We have received donated timber, and the remaining cost is $1,000.
It will serve about 312 people, including local farmers and market traders. We'll hold a build day in November and everyone is invited.
We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos.
Funds are spent only on materials, permits and safety equipment; all labor is volunteered.
Where the $1,000 goes:
• Tools hire and delivery: $80
• Materials: $800
• Safety equipment and signage: $120
