A skate park: a volunteer-led effort in Rio de Janeiro
We have the land, the volunteers and the plan for a skate park - we need $550 for materials.

For eight years the neighborhood has asked for a skate park. This year a group of 17 volunteers, including the parish youth group, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for Maple Park, but no funding.
We have received donated paint, and the remaining cost is $550.
It will serve about 194 people, including children, seniors and people with disabilities. We'll hold a build day in September and everyone is invited.
We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos.
Funds are spent only on materials, permits and safety equipment; all labor is volunteered.
Where the $550 goes:
• Safety equipment and signage: $80
• Tools hire and delivery: $60
• Materials: $410
I'll pay this kindness forward the moment I'm able to.

Hope things get better soon. It takes guts to ask. Well done. Don't lose heart. A few weeks ago I was in a hole too and it changed faster than I expected. Thinking of Rio de Janeiro.
