A repair café workshop for the Acacia vacant lot: help our neighbors in Kathmandu
We have the land, the volunteers and the plan for a repair café workshop - we need $250 for materials.
🇳🇵 Bagmati, Nepal1,109 views
For five years the neighborhood has asked for a repair café workshop. This year a group of 24 volunteers, including the neighborhood football club, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for the Acacia vacant lot, but no funding.
We have received donated tools, and the remaining cost is $250.
It will serve about 81 people, including young people who have nowhere safe to play. We'll hold a build day in November and everyone is invited.
We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos.
All purchases will be made by two volunteers and logged publicly. Surplus funds will go to maintenance.
Where the $250 goes:
• Materials: $105
• Permits and inspections: $35
• Safety equipment and signage: $45
• Tools hire and delivery: $65
Glad we found this place.

I've been in a tough spot myself and it does get easier. After 8 years in teaching I know how hard it's to ask for anything.
Is there a list of costs somewhere? Just curious how it adds up for Binod!
The list at the bottom is the whole picture. materials is the biggest at $105. It helps to be asked.
Hope things get better soon. Gave what I could, wish it was more. My neighbor in Phuket donated after I showed her your page. All the best.
Keep going. Shared it with a few friends. Don't lose heart. A few weeks ago I was in a hole too and it changed faster than I expected. Thinking of Kathmandu.
Hope it all works out, Binod. Everyone deserves a bit of help sometimes.
