A rainwater harvesting system for the Union vacant lot: help our neighbors in Kanpur

For ten years the neighborhood has asked for a rainwater harvesting system. This year a group of 14 volunteers, including the neighborhood football club, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for the Union vacant lot, but no funding.
We have received donated volunteer hours worth about $150, and the remaining cost is $400.
It will serve about 162 people, including local farmers and market traders. We'll hold a build day in June and everyone is invited.
We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos.
All purchases will be made by two volunteers and logged publicly. Surplus funds will go to maintenance.

• Tools hire and delivery: $35
• Materials: $340
• Permits and inspections: $25
