A rainwater harvesting system: a volunteer-led effort in Thủ Đức
Volunteers in Thủ Đức are raising $500 for a rainwater harvesting system at the Harmony vacant lot.
Anywhere in the world301 views
For ten years the neighborhood has asked for a rainwater harvesting system. This year a group of 19 volunteers, including a retired civil engineer, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for the Harmony vacant lot, but no funding.
We have received donated paint, and the remaining cost is $500.
It will serve about 489 people, including elderly neighbors living alone. We'll hold a build day in October and everyone is invited.
We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos.
Funds are spent only on materials, permits and safety equipment; all labor is volunteered.
Where the $500 goes:
• Materials: $390
• Permits and inspections: $45
• Safety equipment and signage: $65
You're what makes this possible, and I'll never forget it.
