A rainwater harvesting system: a volunteer-led effort in Rotterdam

We have the land, the volunteers and the plan for a rainwater harvesting system - we need $1,750 for materials.

For eight years the neighborhood has asked for a rainwater harvesting system. This year a group of 9 volunteers, including two retired carpenters, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for the Harmony health centre yard, but no funding. We have received donated paint, and the remaining cost is $1,750. It will serve about 426 people, including young people who have nowhere safe to play. We'll hold a build day in October and everyone is invited. We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos. All purchases will be made by two volunteers and logged publicly. Surplus funds will go to maintenance. Where the $1,750 goes: • Materials: $1,000 • Permits and inspections: $200 • Safety equipment and signage: $200 • Tools hire and delivery: $350 Even a small gift gets used right away and I'll thank you myself.
