A rainwater harvesting system: a volunteer-led effort in Parramatta
We have the land, the volunteers and the plan for a rainwater harvesting system - we need $1,650 for materials.
🇦🇺 Australia358 views
For twelve years the neighborhood has asked for a rainwater harvesting system. This year a group of 29 volunteers, including a retired civil engineer, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for the old Union bus depot, but no funding.
We have received donated a pump, and the remaining cost is $1,650.
It will serve about 512 people, including elderly neighbors living alone. We'll hold a build day in November and everyone is invited.
We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos.
Funds are spent only on materials, permits and safety equipment; all labor is volunteered.
Where the $1,650 goes:
• Materials: $870
• Safety equipment and signage: $430
• Tools hire and delivery: $350
Thanks for reading all this.
