A rainwater harvesting system: a volunteer-led effort in Jakarta
Volunteers in Jakarta are raising $500 for a rainwater harvesting system at Sycamore Park.
🇮🇩 Indonesia1,335 views
For three years the neighborhood has asked for a rainwater harvesting system. This year a group of 25 volunteers, including a group of teenagers, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for Sycamore Park, but no funding.
We have received donated a pump, and the remaining cost is $500.
It will serve about 554 people, including school children and their families. We'll hold a build day in November and everyone is invited.
We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos.
All purchases will be made by two volunteers and logged publicly. Surplus funds will go to maintenance.
Where the $500 goes:
• Tools hire and delivery: $25
• Materials: $430
• Permits and inspections: $45
I hope life is good to you.
