For ten years the neighborhood has asked for a playground. This year a group of 18 volunteers, including two retired carpenters, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for the Union vacant lot, but no funding. We have received donated a pump, and the remaining cost is $1,050. It will serve about 165 people, including local farmers and market traders. We'll hold a build day in March and everyone is invited. We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos. All purchases will be made by two volunteers and logged publicly. Surplus funds will go to maintenance. Quick update: $181 raised so far (17%). I made the first payment toward safety equipment and signage. Receipts coming as soon as I have them.
