For ten years the neighborhood has asked for a playground. This year a group of 14 volunteers, including the parish youth group, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for the Cedar health centre yard, but no funding. We have received donated tools, and the remaining cost is $2,000. It will serve about 344 people, including school children and their families. We'll hold a build day in November and everyone is invited. We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos. Funds are spent only on materials, permits and safety equipment; all labor is volunteered. Where the $2,000 goes: • Materials: $1,350 • Permits and inspections: $230 • Safety equipment and signage: $150 • Tools hire and delivery: $270 Every share and every dollar helps.
