A free library and reading room: a volunteer-led effort in Quetta

For three years the neighborhood has asked for a free library and reading room. This year a group of 19 volunteers, including a group of teenagers, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for the Unity health centre yard, but no funding. We have received donated tools, and the remaining cost is $200. It will serve about 352 people, including elderly neighbors living alone. We'll hold a build day in October and everyone is invited. We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos. Funds are spent only on materials, permits and safety equipment; all labor is volunteered. Where the $200 goes: • Tools hire and delivery: $80 • Safety equipment and signage: $55 • Permits and inspections: $65 You're what makes this possible, and I'll never forget it. - Saad
