A free library and reading room: a volunteer-led effort in Naples
A community-led a free library and reading room at the Harmony community hall that will serve 212 neighbors.

For five years the neighborhood has asked for a free library and reading room. This year a group of 11 volunteers, including the parish youth group, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for the Harmony community hall, but no funding.
We have received donated paint, and the remaining cost is $650.
It will serve about 212 people, including school children and their families. We'll hold a build day in May and everyone is invited.
We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos.
All purchases will be made by two volunteers and logged publicly. Surplus funds will go to maintenance.
Where the $650 goes:
• Permits and inspections: $65
• Safety equipment and signage: $260
• Tools hire and delivery: $325
Whatever you can give, even just sharing this page, means a lot.
Updates from Sara
Wanted to say thank you properly. 33% funded and the plan for tools hire and delivery is now scheduled.
Thank you all. We're at 28% now ($180). I'm honestly stunned. I made the first payment toward safety equipment and signage. - Sara

Looking forward to the next update. My husband and I read this together. Thinking of Naples.
Wishing you peace. Everyone deserves a bit of help sometimes. Sent it to 19 people at work. Greetings from Los Angeles
Good luck, Sara. Shared it with a few friends. My neighbor in Breda donated after I showed her your page. Greetings from Breda.
