A covered market stall space: a volunteer-led effort in San Diego
Volunteers in San Diego are raising $2,950 for a covered market stall space at Maple Primary School.
🇺🇸 United States1,811 views
For five years the neighborhood has asked for a covered market stall space. This year a group of 30 volunteers, including the parish youth group, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for Maple Primary School, but no funding.
We have received donated timber, and the remaining cost is $2,950.
It will serve about 367 people, including young people who have nowhere safe to play. We'll hold a build day in August and everyone is invited.
We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos.
Funds are spent only on materials, permits and safety equipment; all labor is volunteered.
Where the $2,950 goes:
• Materials: $2,150
• Permits and inspections: $220
• Safety equipment and signage: $340
• Tools hire and delivery: $240
Ask me anything below before you decide. I'd rather you were sure.
