A covered market stall space: a volunteer-led effort in Madrid
A community-led a covered market stall space at the Pioneer health centre yard that will serve 567 neighbors.

For three years the neighborhood has asked for a covered market stall space. This year a group of 11 volunteers, including the parish youth group, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for the Pioneer health centre yard, but no funding.
We have received donated paint, and the remaining cost is $2,900.
It will serve about 567 people, including children, seniors and people with disabilities. We'll hold a build day in November and everyone is invited.
We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos.
All purchases will be made by two volunteers and logged publicly. Surplus funds will go to maintenance.
Where the $2,900 goes:
• Materials: $2,150
• Permits and inspections: $125
• Safety equipment and signage: $330
• Tools hire and delivery: $295
