A covered market stall space: a volunteer-led effort in Ciudad de México
We have the land, the volunteers and the plan for a covered market stall space - we need $250 for materials.
Anywhere in the world1,502 views
For five years the neighborhood has asked for a covered market stall space. This year a group of 10 volunteers, including two retired carpenters, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for Jacaranda Park, but no funding.
We have received donated soil and plants, and the remaining cost is $250.
It will serve about 270 people, including children, seniors and people with disabilities. We'll hold a build day in October and everyone is invited.
We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos.
Funds are spent only on materials, permits and safety equipment; all labor is volunteered.
Where the $250 goes:
• Permits and inspections: $55
• Tools hire and delivery: $85
• Safety equipment and signage: $110
Even a small gift gets used right away and I'll thank you myself.
