For eight years the neighborhood has asked for a community garden. This year a group of 27 volunteers, including local mothers, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for the Liberty community hall, but no funding. We have received donated paint, and the remaining cost is $1,250. It will serve about 279 people, including school children and their families. We'll hold a build day in February and everyone is invited. We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos. All purchases will be made by two volunteers and logged publicly. Surplus funds will go to maintenance. Where the $1,250 goes: • Materials: $1,050 • Permits and inspections: $45 • Safety equipment and signage: $55 • Tools hire and delivery: $100 Even a small gift gets used right away and I'll thank you myself.
