A community garden: a volunteer-led effort in Jakarta Selatan

For five years the neighborhood has asked for a community garden. This year a group of 25 volunteers, including local mothers, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for the old Baobab bus depot, but no funding. We have received donated soil and plants, and the remaining cost is $350. It will serve about 488 people, including school children and their families. We'll hold a build day in February and everyone is invited. We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos. All purchases will be made by two volunteers and logged publicly. Surplus funds will go to maintenance.
