Weekly meals for families facing hunger in Warsaw
Mateusz runs a volunteer pantry feeding 257 families; this fund restocks shelves for the harvest gap.

Since 2019, our volunteer team has run Open Hands Pantry every Tuesday from the back of the old library basement. We started with 24 families, and now we feed 257 each week.
Donations have dropped by about 38% this harvest gap, while the line has grown every single week.
We rely on volunteers - 6 of us - and keep no salaries or overhead. I buy staples at wholesale prices at the Warsaw market and keep every receipt.
Each $10 feeds a family of four for a week.
All of the funds go to groceries, fresh produce, and cold-storage costs.
Where the $1,200 goes:
• Rice, beans, flour and oil (wholesale): $410
• Fresh vegetables and fruit: $410
• Baby formula and diapers: $300
• Refrigeration and electricity: $80

This could happen to any of us. Don't lose heart. A few weeks ago I was in a hole too and it changed faster than I expected. Thinking of Warsaw.
