Weekly meals for families facing hunger in Poznań
The Open Hands Pantry pantry in Poznań is running low just as demand rises; $750 will stock it for 7 weeks.
🇵🇱 Poznań, Greater Poland, Poland2,071 views
Since 2020, our volunteer team has run Open Hands Pantry every Monday from the back of a borrowed garage. We started with 29 families, and now we feed 383 each week.
Donations have dropped by about 47% this rainy season, while the line has grown every single week.
We rely on volunteers - 17 of us - and keep no salaries or overhead. I buy staples at wholesale prices at the Poznań market and keep every receipt.
Each $15 feeds a family of four for a week.
I'll post the weekly shopping receipts and a photo of the shelves each Sunday.
Where the $750 goes:
• Fresh vegetables and fruit: $400
• Refrigeration and electricity: $55
• Baby formula and diapers: $295
Even a small gift gets used right away and I'll thank you myself.

We're at 76% thanks to 17 of you. I made the first payment toward refrigeration and electricity. More news soon.
Update from Poznań: I made the first payment toward baby formula and diapers. We're at 72% of the goal. Thank you for believing in us.
Thank you all. We're at 56% now ($420). I'm honestly stunned. the plan for baby formula and diapers is now scheduled.

Wishing you the best, Stanisław. It takes guts to ask. Well done. Take care.
Best of luck, Stanisław. Gave what I could, wish it was more. We lost years of savings to something like this so I get it. Greetings from Phuket.
sending strength, Stanisław. I hope things turn around soon. Read this on the bus and kept thinking about it all day.
Thinking of you, Stanisław. This could happen to any of us
