Weekly meals for families facing hunger in Newport
The the Thursday Table pantry in Newport is running low just as demand rises; $2,100 will stock it for 8 weeks.

Since 2019, our volunteer team has run the Thursday Table every Sunday from the back of a school canteen. We started with 13 families, and now we feed 382 each week.
Donations have dropped by about 48% this rainy season, while the line has grown every single week.
We rely on volunteers - 11 of us - and keep no salaries or overhead. I buy staples at wholesale prices at the Newport market and keep every receipt.
Each $25 feeds a family of four for a week.
I'll post the weekly shopping receipts and a photo of the shelves each Sunday.
Where the $2,100 goes:
• Refrigeration and electricity: $160
• Fresh vegetables and fruit: $1,150
• Rice, beans, flour and oil (wholesale): $790
I'll keep this page updated with receipts as things happen.

Keep going, Ethan. Hope this works out for you. My father had a similar thing happen so this one hit home. All the best
more neighborhoods should do this. Please keep us posted. Take care.
Best of luck, Ethan. I hope things turn around soon. All the best
