Weekly meals for families facing hunger in Chiang Mai
Help keep a free food pantry open for families facing hunger in Chiang Mai.
🇹🇭 Chiang Mai, Thailand104 views
Since 2022, our volunteer team has run Open Hands Pantry every Saturday from the back of the parish hall. We started with 26 families, and now we feed 267 each week.
Donations have dropped by about 60% this winter, while the line has grown every single week.
We rely on volunteers - 17 of us - and keep no salaries or overhead. I buy staples at wholesale prices at the Chiang Mai market and keep every receipt.
Each $15 feeds a family of four for a week.
All of the funds go to groceries, fresh produce, and cold-storage costs.
Where the $600 goes:
• Rice, beans, flour and oil (wholesale): $250
• Fresh vegetables and fruit: $105
• Baby formula and diapers: $140
• Refrigeration and electricity: $105
Glad we found this place.

Is there a list of costs somewhere? Just curious how it adds up for Fon
Everything on the list is an amount I've been quoted or invoiced. rice, beans, flour and oil (wholesale) comes first ($250) and I'll update the page as each thing gets paid. Appreciate you taking the time.
Good luck, Fon. This could happen to any of us. This is the second need I've supported on here and the first that made me cry. Blessings!
hope things get better soon, Fon. This could happen to any of us. I'll check back for the next update.
Sending strength, Fon. Everyone deserves a bit of help sometimes. Blessings.
