Weekly meals for families and seniors in Kisumu
The Open Hands Pantry pantry in Kisumu is running low just as demand rises; $200 will stock it for 7 weeks.

Since 2023, our volunteer team has run Open Hands Pantry every Thursday from the back of the mosque courtyard. We started with 28 families, and now we feed 340 each week.
Donations have dropped by about 30% this winter, while the line has grown every single week.
We rely on volunteers - 12 of us - and keep no salaries or overhead. I buy staples at wholesale prices at the Kisumu market and keep every receipt.
Each $10 feeds a family of four for a week.
I'll post the weekly shopping receipts and a photo of the shelves each Sunday.
Where the $200 goes:
• Refrigeration and electricity: $30
• Baby formula and diapers: $60
• Fresh vegetables and fruit: $110
