Weekly meals for families and seniors in Gaya
The Bread & Beans Kitchen pantry in Gaya is running low just as demand rises; $450 will stock it for 6 weeks.
🇮🇳 Gaya, Bihar, India1,584 views
Since 2023, our volunteer team has run Bread & Beans Kitchen every Friday from the back of a community center. We started with 26 families, and now we feed 212 each week.
Donations have dropped by about 55% this rainy season, while the line has grown every single week.
We rely on volunteers - 20 of us - and keep no salaries or overhead. I buy staples at wholesale prices at the Gaya market and keep every receipt.
Each $5 feeds a family of four for a week.
All of the funds go to groceries, fresh produce, and cold-storage costs.
Where the $450 goes:
• Fresh vegetables and fruit: $135
• Rice, beans, flour and oil (wholesale): $240
• Refrigeration and electricity: $75
I'll keep this page updated with receipts as things happen.

This could happen to any of us. After 30 years in accounting I know how hard it's to ask for anything.
Wishing you peace. Reading this made my day a bit heavier but I'm glad I did. God bless!
Praying for you, Mehul. Hope this works out for you. God bless.
