The landslide hit the families of Greenfield Lane on 31 July. My home was one of 28 damaged, and 3 families are still in temporary shelter at a mosque and church hall. The first few days we shared what little we had. Now the cleanup has started, but we've no money for materials and winter or the rainy season is coming. Schools in the area have been closed, and the clinic lost its cold storage for vaccines. We're a small community of working families who have never asked for help before. We have formed a volunteer committee, and I'm the treasurer, so I'll post receipts for everything we buy. Funds go to building materials, water purification supplies, bedding, and food for families still in shelters. Where the $1,200 goes: • Bedding, blankets and mattresses: $200 • Tools and labor for repairs: $270 • Roofing sheets and timber: $650 • Clean water and purification supplies: $80 Even a small gift gets used right away and I'll thank you myself.

Updates from Joyce

  1. Good news. Because of your gifts ($713 in total) I made the first payment toward tools and labor for repairs. Still a way to go but it feels less lonely.

  2. Small update. $318 so far, I made the first payment toward clean water and purification supplies.

  3. Small update. $200 so far, I made the first payment toward bedding, blankets and mattresses.

I hope things turn around soon. My late mom used to say help given quietly counts double. Thinking of Quezon City.

    • You're not alone, Joyce. Shared this with my family. Don't lose heart. A few weeks ago I was in a hole too and it changed faster than I expected. Blessings

      • Hope it all works out, Joyce. Everyone deserves a bit of help sometimes

          • Take care, Joyce. It takes guts to ask. Well done. Thinking of Quezon City.

            • Take care. More neighborhoods should do this. We had a similar scare last year, I know what it feels like. Thinking of Quezon City.
