Valve repair surgery for Chukwuemeka: covering what insurance won't
A scheduled valve repair surgery in January is out of reach without help covering $600 of the cost.

Chukwuemeka was diagnosed with osteoarthritis in the right knee in October. The surgeon at Gwagwalada University Hospital recommended valve repair surgery, and He is scheduled for January. The hospital's financial office gave us a written estimate of $750, and after what the government subsidy will pay we're still $600 short.
my husband has been in and out of Gwagwalada University Hospital since October. The doctors say osteoarthritis in the right knee will get worse without valve repair surgery. We have emptied our savings and borrowed from relatives, but the estimate of $750 is more than we can find.
While we wait, Chukwuemeka struggles with daily life and can't drive. His family has taken turns caring for him, and I've cut my own work hours to be there.
Rehabilitation is expected to take about 5 weeks. During that time Chukwuemeka won't be able to drive, so the costs keep growing.
