Riley is the first person in the family to go to university. She is studying a degree in social work at Cairns Community College, and is one term away from graduating. She has worked as a library assistant to pay the way, but this term the hours were cut and there's an unpaid balance of $3,100.
The registrar has said Riley can't enroll for the next term until the balance is cleared. Riley has a distinction average, and an academic advisor has written in support.
Graduating means a stable job and the chance to support the younger siblings. Without enrolling this term Riley would lose her place and scholarship eligibility.
Riley isn't asking for a handout - She wants to finish what She started and help the next student.
Everything raised goes to the university's accounts office toward the outstanding balance and the final term's fees.
Where the $3,100 goes:
• Textbooks and materials: $240
• Final term tuition: $2,700
• Exam and lab fees: $160
I never thought I'd be the one asking, and I'm grateful for every bit of support.

Stay strong, Scarlett. Shared this with my family. My late mom used to say help given quietly counts double. Blessings.
Thinking of you, Scarlett. Good luck with the exams, you've got this. Thinking of Cairns.
