I'm the first person in my family to go to university. I'm studying a degree in civil engineering at the Savannah Institute of Technology, and I'm two terms away from graduating. I have worked as a warehouse packer to pay my way, but this term my hours were cut and I have an unpaid balance of $2,350.
The registrar has told me I can't enroll for the next term until the balance is cleared. I have a first-class average, and my professor has written in support of my application for a payment plan.
Graduating means a stable job and the chance to support my younger siblings. Without enrolling this term I'd lose my place and my scholarship eligibility.
I'm not asking for a handout - I want to finish what I started and then help the next student.
The payment will go directly to the the Savannah Institute of Technology bursar's office. I'll post the receipt.
Where the $2,350 goes:
• Exam and lab fees: $240
• Textbooks and materials: $240
• Final term tuition: $1,870
I'll keep this page updated with receipts as things happen.

So sorry you're going through this, Manuel. Hope this works out for you. Wish I lived closer to Pietermaritzburg so I could bring a meal.
