Mandla is the first person in the family to go to university. He is studying a diploma in hospitality management at Paarl Community College, and is two terms away from graduating. He has worked as a shop assistant to pay the way, but this term the hours were cut and there's an unpaid balance of $1,150.
The registrar has said Mandla can't enroll for the next term until the balance is cleared. Mandla has a 3.8 average, and a professor has written in support.
Graduating means a stable job and the chance to support the younger siblings. Without enrolling this term Mandla would lose his place and scholarship eligibility.
Mandla isn't asking for a handout - He wants to finish what He started and help the next student.
The payment will go directly to the Paarl Community College bursar's office. I'll post the receipt.
