Malathi is the first person in the family to go to university. She is studying a master's in public health at the Varanasi Institute of Technology, and is one semester away from graduating. She has worked as a warehouse packer to pay the way, but this term the hours were cut and there's an unpaid balance of $300.
The registrar has said Malathi can't enroll for the next term until the balance is cleared. Malathi has a distinction average, and a faculty supervisor has written in support.
Graduating means a stable job and the chance to support the younger siblings. Without enrolling this term Malathi would lose her place and scholarship eligibility.
Malathi isn't asking for a handout - She wants to finish what She started and help the next student.
The payment will go directly to the the Varanasi Institute of Technology bursar's office. I'll post the receipt.

• Final term tuition: $245
