Tuition fund for Maina: an accounting degree at Embakasi State College
A first-generation student, Maina needs help covering tuition for the final stretch of an accounting degree.
🇰🇪 Embakasi, Nairobi, Kenya1,025 views
Maina is the first person in the family to go to university. He is studying an accounting degree at Embakasi State College, and is one term away from graduating. He has worked as a delivery rider to pay the way, but this term the hours were cut and there's an unpaid balance of $650.
The registrar has said Maina can't enroll for the next term until the balance is cleared. Maina has a 3.9 average, and a professor has written in support.
Graduating means a stable job and the chance to support the younger siblings. Without enrolling this term Maina would lose his place and scholarship eligibility.
Maina isn't asking for a handout - He wants to finish what He started and help the next student.
Everything raised goes to the university's accounts office toward the outstanding balance and the final term's fees.
Where the $650 goes:
• Final term tuition: $560
• Exam and lab fees: $30
• Textbooks and materials: $60
Thanks for being kind about this.
