Sacramento
Lydia is the first person in the family to go to university. She is studying an agriculture degree at the Sacramento Institute of Technology, and is two terms away from graduating. She has worked as a warehouse packer to pay the way, but this term the hours were cut and there's an unpaid balance of $3,850. The registrar has said Lydia can't enroll for the next term until the balance is cleared. Lydia has a 3.9 average, and an academic advisor has written in support. Graduating means a stable job and the chance to support the younger siblings. Without enrolling this term Lydia would lose her place and scholarship eligibility. Lydia isn't asking for a handout - She wants to finish what She started and help the next student. The payment will go directly to the the Sacramento Institute of Technology bursar's office. I'll post the receipt. Where the $3,850 goes: • Outstanding tuition balance: $1,100 • Final term tuition: $2,300 • Exam and lab fees: $210 • Textbooks and materials: $240 Thanks for reading all this. - Sadie

Updates from Sadie

  1. Small update. $1,498 so far, I met with the university and confirmed the amounts.

  2. Good news. Because of your gifts ($1,253 in total) I made the first payment toward textbooks and materials. Still a way to go but it feels less lonely.

  3. Update from Sacramento: I made the first payment toward final term tuition. We're at 20% of the goal. Thank you for believing in us.

  • Keep going, Sadie. I've been in a tough spot myself and it does get easier. Don't lose heart. A few weeks ago I was in a hole too and it changed faster than I expected. Blessings.
