Kumiko is the first person in the family to go to university. She is studying a degree in social work at the Shinjuku Institute of Technology, and is one term away from graduating. She has worked as a shop assistant to pay the way, but this term the hours were cut and there's an unpaid balance of $3,800.
The registrar has said Kumiko can't enroll for the next term until the balance is cleared. Kumiko has a top-ten-percent average, and a professor has written in support.
Graduating means a stable job and the chance to support the younger siblings. Without enrolling this term Kumiko would lose her place and scholarship eligibility.
Kumiko isn't asking for a handout - She wants to finish what She started and help the next student.
The payment will go directly to the the Shinjuku Institute of Technology bursar's office. I'll post the receipt.
Where the $3,800 goes:
• Outstanding tuition balance: $1,400
• Final term tuition: $1,900
• Exam and lab fees: $195
• Textbooks and materials: $305
Even a small gift gets used right away and I'll thank you myself.
