I'm the first person in my family to go to university. I'm studying a degree in civil engineering at Boulogne-Billancourt Community College, and I'm one term away from graduating. I have worked as a library assistant to pay my way, but this term my hours were cut and I have an unpaid balance of $5,050.
The registrar has told me I can't enroll for the next term until the balance is cleared. I have a distinction average, and my faculty supervisor has written in support of my application for a payment plan.
Graduating means a stable job and the chance to support my younger siblings. Without enrolling this term I'd lose my place and my scholarship eligibility.
I'm not asking for a handout - I want to finish what I started and then help the next student.
Everything raised goes to the university's accounts office toward the outstanding balance and the final term's fees.
Where the $5,050 goes:
• Exam and lab fees: $220
• Final term tuition: $2,850
• Outstanding tuition balance: $1,980
Please ask me anything in the questions section. I'll answer honestly and quickly.

As a teacher I love seeing someone work this hard to learn. Put this on a community board in Bakersfield this morning.
Good luck, Farah. This could happen to any of us. We lost years of savings to something like this so I get it. All the best.
Thanks for sharing this, Farah. It takes guts to ask. Well done
