The Shevchenko family fled Iraq - help them rebuild in Southampton
After fleeing Iraq, the Shevchenko family has arrived in Southampton with little more than their documents. They need help with a deposit, furniture and the first months.

My family left Iraq 7 months ago after we could no longer live safely. We spent time in a camp before we were resettled in Southampton. We're a family of four and we're safe, but we arrived with very little.
Our resettlement agency has provided 3 months of rent, and that support ends in December.
I was a nurse in Iraq, and I'm studying the language every evening. Our daughter and son have started school and are doing well.
We want nothing more than to be self-sufficient. This fund will help us through the first six months.
All purchases will be documented and photos shared (with the family's consent).
Where the $3,700 goes:
• Rent deposit and first month: $2,000
• Beds, table and basic furniture: $770
• Winter clothing and school supplies: $340
• Language classes and bus passes: $330
• Phone and internet for school and job search: $260
Thanks for being kind about this.

Sending good thoughts. Everyone deserves a bit of help sometimes. Wish I lived closer to Embakasi so I could bring a meal. Thinking of Southampton.
