Cairo

For twelve years the neighborhood has asked for a community fridge. This year a group of 23 volunteers, including local mothers, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for the Pioneer community hall, but no funding. We have received donated volunteer hours worth about $185, and the remaining cost is $350. It will serve about 555 people, including school children and their families. We'll hold a build day in May and everyone is invited. We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos. Funds are spent only on materials, permits and safety equipment; all labor is volunteered. Where the $350 goes: • Safety equipment and signage: $70 • Materials: $270 • Permits and inspections: $10 Every share and every dollar helps.
