After fleeing Syria, the Petrenko family has arrived in Adama with little more than their documents. They need help with a deposit, furniture and the first months.

Adama
My family left Syria 12 months ago after the war reached our town. We spent time in a camp before we were resettled in Adama. We're a family of six and we're safe, but we arrived with very little. Our resettlement agency has provided 4 months of rent, and that support ends in November. I was an electrician in Syria, and I'm studying the language every evening. Our daughter and son have started school and are doing well. We want nothing more than to be self-sufficient. This fund will help us through the first six months. All purchases will be documented and photos shared (with the family's consent). Where the $400 goes: • Beds, table and basic furniture: $145 • Winter clothing and school supplies: $55 • Language classes and bus passes: $50 • Rent deposit and first month: $150 I hope life is good to you. - Meseret

  • Hang in there. It takes guts to ask. Well done. After 24 years in accounting I know how hard it's to ask for anything

    • Wishing you peace, Meseret. Looking forward to the next update. Put this on a community board in Coyoacán this morning. Greetings from Coyoacán

      • Hope it all works out. I've been in a tough spot myself and it does get easier. Love from Bandung!

          • Shared it with a few friends. We're a small family in Salem but we're thinking of you. Blessings.
