The old Harmony bus depot needs a community garden - Portia's neighborhood project
Volunteers in Takoradi are raising $550 for a community garden at the old Harmony bus depot.
🇬🇭 Ghana1,001 views
For twelve years the neighborhood has asked for a community garden. This year a group of 10 volunteers, including two retired carpenters, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for the old Harmony bus depot, but no funding.
We have received donated soil and plants, and the remaining cost is $550.
It will serve about 377 people, including local farmers and market traders. We'll hold a build day in March and everyone is invited.
We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos.
Funds are spent only on materials, permits and safety equipment; all labor is volunteered.
Where the $550 goes:
• Tools hire and delivery: $75
• Safety equipment and signage: $45
• Materials: $430
Even a small gift gets used right away and I'll thank you myself.
