For three years the neighborhood has asked for a community garden. This year a group of 19 volunteers, including a group of teenagers, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for the old Acacia bus depot, but no funding. We have received donated timber, and the remaining cost is $3,300. It will serve about 194 people, including children, seniors and people with disabilities. We'll hold a build day in September and everyone is invited. We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos. Funds are spent only on materials, permits and safety equipment; all labor is volunteered. Where the $3,300 goes: • Materials: $2,650 • Permits and inspections: $140 • Safety equipment and signage: $300 • Tools hire and delivery: $210 Thanks for being kind about this. - Eleanor
