My family left Iraq 12 months ago after the war reached our town. We spent time in a camp before we were resettled in Corpus Christi. We're a family of six and we're safe, but we arrived with very little.
Our resettlement agency has provided 2 months of rent, and that support ends in May.
I was a farmer in Iraq, and I'm studying the language every evening. Our daughter and son have started school and are doing well.
We want nothing more than to be self-sufficient. This fund will help us through the first six months.
All purchases will be documented and photos shared (with the family's consent).
Where the $2,900 goes:
• Winter clothing and school supplies: $510
• Language classes and bus passes: $640
• Phone and internet for school and job search: $320
• Beds, table and basic furniture: $1,430
Please ask me anything in the questions section. I'll answer honestly and quickly.

Your post was clear and honest. We're a small family in Makati but we're thinking of you. Thinking of Corpus Christi.
