The Liberty vacant lot needs a community fridge - Rodrigo's neighborhood project
A community-led a community fridge at the Liberty vacant lot that will serve 210 neighbors.
🇲🇽 Jalisco, Mexico1,124 views
For three years the neighborhood has asked for a community fridge. This year a group of 14 volunteers, including two retired carpenters, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for the Liberty vacant lot, but no funding.
We have received donated timber, and the remaining cost is $1,050.
It will serve about 210 people, including young people who have nowhere safe to play. We'll hold a build day in August and everyone is invited.
We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos.
All purchases will be made by two volunteers and logged publicly. Surplus funds will go to maintenance.
Where the $1,050 goes:
• Tools hire and delivery: $140
• Permits and inspections: $55
• Materials: $855
Even a small gift gets used right away and I'll thank you myself.

I can't speak highly enough about this helper. They were available when I needed them, supportive when I felt lost, and practical in their solutions.

best of luck. This could happen to any of us. Read this on the bus and kept thinking about it all day.
Wishing you the best, Rodrigo. Reading this made my day a bit heavier but I'm glad I did
Everyone deserves a bit of help sometimes. We had a similar scare last year, I know what it feels like. Thinking of Zapopan.
