The Harmony vacant lot needs a playground - Ahmed's neighborhood project
A community-led a playground at the Harmony vacant lot that will serve 147 neighbors.
🇿🇦 Gauteng, South Africa688 views
For five years the neighborhood has asked for a playground. This year a group of 27 volunteers, including the parish youth group, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for the Harmony vacant lot, but no funding.
We have received donated soil and plants, and the remaining cost is $900.
It will serve about 147 people, including school children and their families. We'll hold a build day in October and everyone is invited.
We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos.
All purchases will be made by two volunteers and logged publicly. Surplus funds will go to maintenance.
Where the $900 goes:
• Permits and inspections: $50
• Materials: $720
• Tools hire and delivery: $130
With deep gratitude,
Ahmed

Stay strong, Ahmed. Gave what I could, wish it was more. Our whole street has been following this since the weekend. Love from Wiesbaden.
more neighborhoods should do this. We're a small family in Ogbomosho but we're thinking of you. Greetings from Ogbomosho
Great idea, hope you get there. After 29 years in retail I know how hard it's to ask for anything.
Stay strong, Ahmed. Shared this with my family. My late mom used to say help given quietly counts double.
