The Harmony riverbank cleanup and restoration: help our volunteer crew

Help us clean and replant the Harmony riverbank before the October planting window closes.

The Harmony riverbank has been used as an informal dump for years. This June, 69 neighbors turned up for a first cleanup, filling 87 bags in a single morning. Now we want to restore it for good. We have a plan agreed with the city parks department, including native species selected by a local botanist. The area floods more each year, and fish have returned for the first time in a decade after our first cleanup. Restoring it will protect homes and bring back shade. All the labor is volunteered. We just need materials. We'll post planting day photos and a count of every sapling planted. Where the $650 goes: • Native saplings and stakes: $190 • Tools and protective gear: $190 • Waste removal and skip hire: $180 • Signage and educational materials: $90 I never thought I'd be the one asking, and I'm grateful for every bit of support. - Lorenzo

Updates from Lorenzo

  1. Good news. Because of your gifts ($128 in total) I met with the nursery and confirmed the amounts. Still a way to go but it feels less lonely.

  2. Good news. Because of your gifts ($50 in total) we've booked the dates and paid the deposit. Still a way to go but it feels less lonely.

So sorry you're going through this, Lorenzo. It takes guts to ask. Well done. Put this on a community board in Saint-Denis this morning. Blessings
