For three years the neighborhood has asked for a sensory garden for children with autism. This year a group of 8 volunteers, including a retired civil engineer, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for the Baobab health centre yard, but no funding.
We have received donated paint, and the remaining cost is $1,250.
It will serve about 415 people, including young people who have nowhere safe to play. We'll hold a build day in July and everyone is invited.
We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos.
Funds are spent only on materials, permits and safety equipment; all labor is volunteered.
Where the $1,250 goes:
• Materials: $960
• Permits and inspections: $115
• Safety equipment and signage: $110
• Tools hire and delivery: $65
Please ask me anything in the questions section. I'll answer honestly and quickly.

Is there a list of costs somewhere? Just curious how it adds up for Andreea.
Materials is $960 of it. Everything else is listed in the story and nothing outside that list comes out of this page. Good question.
gave what I could, wish it was more. Sent it to 34 people at work. God bless
Great idea, hope you get there. Greetings from Embakasi.
