Surgery fund for Walker: valve repair surgery in Los Angeles
After a torn ligament that needs reconstruction, Walker was cleared for valve repair surgery, but the bill is more than we can manage.
🇺🇸 California, United States692 views
Walker was diagnosed with a torn ligament that needs reconstruction in October. The surgeon at Saint Elizabeth Hospital recommended valve repair surgery, and He is scheduled for December. The hospital's financial office gave us a written estimate of $8,500, and after what the public health scheme will pay we're still $6,750 short.
my son has been in and out of Saint Elizabeth Hospital since October. The doctors say a torn ligament that needs reconstruction will get worse without valve repair surgery. We have emptied our savings and borrowed from relatives, but the estimate of $8,500 is more than we can find.
While we wait, Walker struggles with daily life and can't drive. His family has taken turns caring for him, and I've cut my own work hours to be there.
The recovery period is expected to take about 5 weeks. During that time Walker won't be able to drive, so the costs keep growing.
I'll pay the hospital and pharmacy directly and post every receipt in the updates section.
Where the $6,750 goes:
• Surgeon and anesthesia fees: $2,900
• Hospital stay (4 nights): $2,650
• Pre-operative tests and imaging: $290
• Post-operative medication: $270
• Physiotherapy sessions: $280
• Travel and lodging for the family: $360
You're what makes this possible, and I'll never forget it.
