Satomi was diagnosed with osteoarthritis in the right knee in May. The surgeon at Fukuoka Orthopedic Institute recommended palate reconstruction surgery, and She is scheduled for September. The hospital's financial office gave us a written estimate of $4,050, and after what my insurance will pay we're still $2,850 short. my daughter has been in and out of Fukuoka Orthopedic Institute since May. The doctors say osteoarthritis in the right knee will get worse without palate reconstruction surgery. We have emptied our savings and borrowed from relatives, but the estimate of $4,050 is more than we can find. While we wait, Satomi struggles with daily life and can't walk without help. Her family has taken turns caring for her, and I've cut my own work hours to be there. Rehabilitation is expected to take about 6 weeks. During that time Satomi won't be able to walk without help, so the costs keep growing.
