Surgery fund for Rey: laparoscopic cyst removal in Manila
After a torn ligament that needs reconstruction, Rey was cleared for laparoscopic cyst removal, but the bill is more than we can manage.

In November I was diagnosed with a torn ligament that needs reconstruction. My surgeon at Manila University Hospital recommended laparoscopic cyst removal, and I have been placed on the schedule for February. The hospital's financial office gave me a written estimate of $2,000, and after what our health plan will pay, I'm still $1,200 short.
Doctors at Manila University Hospital told me a torn ligament that needs reconstruction will get worse without laparoscopic cyst removal. I work as a retail assistant, and I have saved what I can, but the estimate of $2,000 is far beyond what I've.
Until the surgery I can't work full days, and my hours as a retail assistant have already been cut. Every week of waiting means more pain and a bigger risk.
Rehabilitation is expected to take about 3 weeks. I'll not be able to lift anything heavy during that time, so this has become a financial emergency as well as a medical one.
I'll pay the hospital and pharmacy directly and post every receipt in the updates section.
Where the $1,200 goes:
• Surgeon and anesthesia fees: $580
• Hospital stay (3 nights): $470
• Travel and lodging for the family: $40
• Post-operative medication: $30
• Pre-operative tests and imaging: $80
Every share and every dollar helps.
